Verification Methods Explained

Claiming & Verification

Ostrich offers three ways to verify that you represent the vendor you're claiming. Each method has different time requirements and technical prerequisites — choose the one that fits your situation.

Email domain match (fastest)

If you signed up to Ostrich with an email address that matches the vendor's primary domain (e.g., you used you@acme.com and the listing is for Acme), verification is automatic. The system confirms the domain match and approves the claim without any additional steps. This is the fastest path — resolution is instant.

DNS TXT record

Add a TXT record to your domain's DNS with a value provided by Ostrich during the claim flow. Once the record propagates (usually under an hour, up to 48 hours for slow DNS providers), Ostrich automatically detects it and approves the claim. This method works regardless of which email address you used to sign up.

Manual review

If neither automatic method is available, submit a manual review request. You'll be asked to provide evidence of your role at the company — a LinkedIn profile, a company directory link, or a document showing your name and company. The Ostrich trust team reviews submissions within 2–3 business days. This is the only path for agencies or consultants claiming on behalf of a vendor client.

  • Email domain: instant
  • DNS TXT: 1 hour – 48 hours
  • Manual review: 2–3 business days
